Republic Place
Details
The Republic Place project involved connecting and modernizing two iconic buildings in the heart of Washington, DC. This comprehensive renovation enhanced functionality, accessibility, and aesthetics for current and prospective tenants.
The lobby improvements included the installation of an intricate spiral staircase and elevating the lobby floor by four feet, creating a more prominent and inviting entryway. The full-height exterior structural glass was also replaced, extending it beyond the old system and creating a modern aesthetic. The design followed up to the second floor where a large conference center was built.
There were also extensive renovations to the exterior of the 801 building to improve the curb appeal, including the replacement of all windows on floors 1 through 10 and painting the entire exterior. The team also regraded the 18th Street sidewalk from H to I Streets to improve accessibility and drainage.
