DFS Construction Wins NAIOP DC|MD Award for The Grogan
DFS Construction is proud to announce that The Grogan has been awarded the NAIOP DC|MD Award of Excellence in the Best Interiors category. Located in Washington, D.C.’s historic Chinatown district, The Grogan beautifully blends modern design with the building’s 19th-century roots. Originally built as a furniture manufacturing store in 1891, the project required careful coordination with DC’s Historic Preservation and Chinatown Boards to integrate cultural elements into the exterior. The result is a lobby and office space that are elegant, open, and flexible, enhancing the building’s marketability.
Our work with 3877 Design on this project focused on preserving the building’s original character while providing a contemporary tenant experience. The lobby features a curved ceiling and a striking wood feature wall, accentuated by strategic lighting that enhances the contrast between industrial brick and timber beams. The third floor maintains this industrial feel, with timber columns framing a stone island and open café space, complemented by rich wood tones and steel accents throughout.
The award recognizes the meticulous craftsmanship and collaboration between DFS Construction and our project team, to create a cohesive and sophisticated space. We are grateful for this honor from NAIOP DC|MD and look forward to continuing our work on innovative projects.
