About the Project
This multi-floor first generation build out is comprised of 135,000 sf. of high security office space on three separate floors. As security was a prime concern, the DOE wanted an internal connection between the floors. DFS made structural modifications to the base building by cutting a stairwell into the slab, connecting the floors with the use of carbon fiber mesh, finished off with terrazzo stairs and glass railings. All security entrances were equipped with minimalistic, stone security desks, ballistic rated wall panels and metal detector scanners.
